Q: Where can I download DICOMmail?

A: DICOMmail is available at RADinfo SYSTEMS' website, under our Products drop-down menu. Click on PowerPACS DICOMmail to get to the DICOMmail main page and follow the instructions to begin downloading.

Q: How can I purchase DICOMmail?

A: To purchase DICOMmail, first go to the default page and download the program (see above). Once DICOMmail has finished installing, launch the program by double-clicking on the icon. A dialogue box will pop up and you will be asked to enter your serial number. Below this prompt is a 'Purchase and Register DICOMmail NOW' button. Select this button and it will bring you to a page where you can buy DICOMmail. Click on the button that says 'BUY NOW' and the transaction will be finished via PayPal. Once you have purchased DICOMmail, we will send your Serial Number to you via the Email address you have provided. If you do not receive an Email with your Serial Number from us within twenty-four hours after purchasing DICOMmail, please contact LICENSE@RADinfoSYSTEMS.com.

Q: How do I enter my DICOMmail Serial Number?

A: After launching DICOMmail, a dialogue box will appear and you will be prompted to input your Serial Number. Enter the Serial Number in the field and click OK. You can also go to the Help menu within the DICOMmail program, select 'About DICOMmail', and a new window will appear. Click on 'Register' and the Input Serial Number dialogue box will come up. Enter the Serial Number in the field and click OK. Once you have entered and saved your Serial Number, the Input Serial Number dialogue box will no longer show up.

Q: Should I register my license right after installing DICOMmail?

A: Users who have not registered their DICOMmail can view images from their Email, but they cannot send images--the full features of DICOMmail cannot be accessed. Additionally, the Input Serial dialogue box will pop up every time the program is launched.

Q: How can I sign up to receive Email notification of upgrades and other announcements?

A: Your information will be sent to RADinfo SYSTEMS' customer database when you enter your Email, Organization, First and Last Name on our default DICOMmail page. We will send you any new DICOMmail information automatically. If you do not wish for RADinfo SYSTEMS to send you software updates or newsletters, leave the field blank.

Q: Can I get a trial version of DICOMmail?

A: We are no longer providing a trial version of DICOMmail. Beginning February 1st, 2008, the full version of DICOMmail will be available at our online purchase center.

Q: How do I install DICOMmail?

A: To install DICOMmail, the program must first be downloaded to your computer. Afterwards, follow the prompts for installation: 

1) Click 'Run' when asked "Do you want to run or save this file?" 

2) Click 'Run' when asked "Do you want to run this software?" 

3) Follow the installation wizard prompts to install DICOMmail. 

4) After the download is complete, go to your Email and single- or double-click the attachment and click Open.

Q: How do I check which version of DICOMmail I have?

A: From the program, go to the Help menu, then select 'About DICOMmail'. The version number is displayed.

Q: How do I upgrade to the latest version of DICOMmail?

A: To upgrade to the latest version of DICOMmail, go to RADinfo SYSTEMS' DICOMmail default web page and download the latest version. This should automatically overwrite the old version.

Q: How do I view images from my Email?

A: From the Email, single- or double-click the attachment and click Open. RSVS Viewer will launch and you will be able to view the image. If the user who sent the image to you opted to have the attachment encrypted, opening the image will require a password. This password will have been sent in a second Email generated from DICOMmail by the sender. Enter the password you received and click OK. The image can now be viewed in RSVS Viewer.

Q: How do I configure my Email account for DICOMmail?

A: From the program, go to the Help menu, then select 'About Email account setup'. Follow the instructions detailed in the window.

Q: How do I send out an Email from DICOMmail using MS Outlook* instead of Outlook Express?

A: From the program, go to the File menu and select 'Configuration'. At the bottom of the Configurations dialogue box, check the 'Use MS Outlook to send DICOMmail' option, and then choose the correct Outlook Path (it should look something like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Outlook.exe). Select OK. *DICOMmail only supports Microsoft Outlook 10 and up.

Q: What kinds of images are compatible with DICOMmail?

A: DICOMmail can support JPEG, BMP, and DICOM format images.

Q: How do I convert my JPEG and BMP images into DICOM format?

A: From the program, find your image from the Directory tree on the left side of the window, then drag and drop the selected files or folder to the right pane. (Unconverted images will automatically go in the right bottom pane.) Once you have an image in the bottom pane, you will be able to select the 'Convert' button at the top of the window. Doing this will convert the images in the bottom pane to DICOM format and they will then show up in the top pane.

Q: How do I send images through DICOMmail?

A: Once an image is in the top pane (converted DICOM image), hit the SEND button. Your Email editor will appear. Type in the address you want to send the image to and click SEND. To change your Email configuration, go to the File menu and select 'Configuration'. To learn more about the Configuration options, go to the Help menu and click 'DICOMmail Help'. From the Contents menu, click on DICOMmail Configuration. A detailed chart explaining each option is shown.

Q: How do I attach a report document to an image and send these from DICOMmail?

A: To attach a report document with your DICOM image, first launch your RSVS Viewer and click the study where the image lies. Select the image you want to send and at the top of the program, click the 'Attach Your Document to the Study' button. (You can also right click on the image, scroll down to 'Tools', and select 'Attach Your Document to the Study'.) A dialogue box appears and you will be able to choose the document you want to attach to the study. Click Open, and the document now shows as an Encapsulated file. Highlight the document and the images you want to send and select the 'Mail' button at the top of the RSVS Viewer. (Or right click on the images and choose 'Email Selected Images'.) DICOMmail will now pop up with the documents and images you selected, ready to be Emailed out.

Q: How do I read a DIP file?

A: To read a DIP file, DICOMmail must be installed on your computer. Then double-click on the DIP file. It will automatically launch the viewer, and you will be able to view the images.

Q: Can I send out anonymous patient data? How do I do it?

A: Yes, you can send out anonymous patient data using DICOMmail. From the program, go to the File menu and click 'Configuration'. From the Configurations window, check 'Send Anonymous Mail (No Patient Info)' and then click on the Anonymous Fields button to input the data you wish to send.

Q: Can I print out an image from DICOMmail?

A: You can print an image, but not from DICOMmail. However, our DICOMmail package comes with a basic RSVS Viewer. From the RSVS Viewer program, click on the left Tools button or go to the drop-down menu from the Tools button at the top of the window and choose Print.

Q: How long the image will stay in my local viewer?

A: Once you display the image, it will be saved in the local machine for 7 days. After 7 days the image will be removed automatically. This setting is configurable and you can modify it form program "File->Configuration".

Q: Do the images I send out using DICOMmail have password protection?

A: This depends on the user. If you wish to set password protection on an image, go to the File menu and click 'Configuration'. You will be able to enable password protection for the image.

Q: Does DICOMmail support compression?

A: Yes, DICOMmail supports JPEG Lossless and JPEG Lossy compression. From the program, go to the File menu and click 'Configuration'. Under the Out Mail section in this dialogue box, you can select 'Use JPEG Lossy'. (The default compression is JPEG Lossless.) You can change the Compress Rate manually, or deselect 'Use JPEG Lossy' here.

Q: Does DICOMmail have any encryption options?

A: Yes. From the program, go to the File menu and click 'Configuration'. Within this dialogue box is a drop-down menu called Encryption Method. (The 'Enable the Encryption' option must be selected to do this.) There are four encryption options. If you choose 'Enable the Encryption', you will be asked to send a second Email with a password you created so that the person you send the images to will be able to view the files.

Q: Can I directly send out images from the RSVS Viewer?

A: Yes, it is possible to Email images directly from the RSVS Viewer. From the RSVS Viewer program, go to the Tools drop-down menu. In the first row you will see a 'Mail' button. The DICOMmail program will launch by clicking this button, and you will be able to go from there.
